1: Rob Jeffery – GK Play-a-likey: David Seaman The best keeper the SDFPL has seen, an absolute gent. RIP 1983-2008
2: Dan Shaw – FB/ CB/ GK Play-a-likey: Wes Brown First season for the Pirates, marauding Full-Back who likes to get forward equally comfortable at Centre-Back or in goal.
3: Gaz ‘Cripper’ Hague – FB/ CB/ LM Play-a-likey: Gabriel Heinze 3rd longest serving Pirate, twice Players Player, once Oughtibtdge Stylist of the Year, gives 110% whether creating the perfect bouffant or cleaning out forwards, earns pop-star wages/ rubbish at organising anything.
4: Andrew Tester – FB Play-a-likey: Mel Sterland 4th season with the Pirates who has coincidently gained a stone each season. Tough tackling tank of a Full-Back who also holds the Pirate record for most times sick before a game.
5: Chris Meekin – CB/ CF Play-a-likey: Neil Ruddock 2nd longest serving Pirate, and chief treasure-arrrh. Unfortunately did not have enough calcium as a child and has broken something each season he has played. Best header of the ball you will ever play alongside, big player who will be missed as he fights to regain his fitness.
6: Nick Cook – CB Play-a-likey: Mark Wright Was a consistent old-school centre half who was part of the solid backbone of the Pirates defence, a horrific leg break has ended his career far too early. Will be missed.
16: Geoff Mayfield – GK/ CB Play-a-likey: Monk (Mean Machine) A 2008 signing for the Pirates who is no nonsense on and off the field. Is a solid centre half who has had to show his cat like reflexes to help out his fellow Pirates this season.
